The struggle for a better future

Sports have the ability to unite people across religion, politics and conflicts. This is why hummel believes that sports can help change the world.

In Afghanistan, women don’t have equal educational opportunities, nor do they have the possibility to independently pursue their goals or dreams. Football gives the women of Afghanistan the chance to build confidence and independence. This leads to a quality of life previously unknown to them. With football as a tool Afghan women have taken charge of their future and sent a clear message to fellow Afghans and to the rest of the world: Afghanistan can have a better and brighter future.

hummel supports the Afghan women's struggle for equal rights, not only through sponsorships and aid, but also by giving them a voice. By promoting the women's fight for a better future through football, we hope that we can help Afghanistan forward.

You can meet some of the female team players of Afghanistan in this video by Emilie Ladefoged.

The afghan-born, Germany-based, photographer Lela Ahmadzai  has made this documentary about the National Afghan female players.

Both the female and male national team players participated in this photoshoot for hummel in 2010 in Kabul.
