Going Green

On the 30th of October 2011 the population of the planet reached 7 billion people. More than half of the inhabitants live in cities. This urbanization has resulted in an increase in CO2.

In an attempt to contribute to the reduction of CO2, the THORNICO Company WEST-STAR group has decided to embark on a “green” expedition starting in Rotterdam.

The rooftops of the two towers of the THORNICO Building in Rotterdam have been transformed from average rooftops to “green roofs”. These green roofs serve as insulation, help water management and contribute to the reduction of CO2.

     

Our latest and biggest green project is the ”GreenPark”, which is the transformation of our car parking building located in the middle of Rotterdam. We are turning it into a huge green “lung” – making it the officially largest vertical green wall in Europe, doubling as a landmark for Rotterdam.

WEST-STAR group has also installing LED lights in most of the public areas of the buildings.
