Understanding through sports

In October 2010, hummel initiated a project to build children’s football schools in Sierra Leone. The first school is up and running and each week 40 children aged 5-15 participate with great joy and commitment. 

By combing sport and education we hope to nurture friendship and understanding with football as a tool. The increased motivation for living and achieving is already obvious at the school; in a country with 69 % illiteracy, 80 % of the participating children have passed their exams this semester.

The school project has just started and we hope to increase our engagement in Sierra Leone further and build even more football schools and academies in the future.
