Last Friday, on October 5, THORNICO hosted its THORNICO Event. Every year we arrange an event where we celebrate our dear colleagues and where Company Karma is the wide storyline. It was a fun, memorable and magical evening filled with moments of award celebrations, inspirational speeches, fun entertainment, delicious food, and dance.
Like last year the event was held at Odeon in Odense on the island of Funen. Odeon is the perfect setting when it comes to business- and cultural-life events in Odense. THORNICO has its headquarters in Odense and is, therefore, the central place in Denmark for all our colleagues from mainly Aarhus, Copenhagen and around Funen to gather.
We were so very fortunate to have the Mayor of Odense, Peter Rahbæk Juel, as our guest speaker. Peter Rahbæk Juel gave an opening speech in Odeon, about how we in THORNICO are working from our Company Karma philosophy “doing good while doing business” and how companies can take action and contribute to realizing the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Goals in which we in THORNICO are proud to work with. Peter Rahbæk Juel also presented the winner of The Mykarma Project 2018 Award together with THORNICO’s owner and CEO, Christian Stadil.
The Mykarma Project Award 2018 was given to Annie Frydensberg Pedersen for the project, Homemade teddy bears for kids in emergency rooms. Hopefully, the award and the 25.000 DKK. can help make a difference for the children. Congratulations! Read more about the Mykarma Project 2018 here.
This year we changed the timing of our THORNICO Awards and moved them to our event night. Because we would like celebrating the winners of the three THORNICO Awards categories: Company Karma, Synergy and Idea, together with all our colleagues. There is something special about clapping and cheering loudly and lovingly by the people who make it particularly nice to go to work. You can meet the global THORNICO Awards winners here.
During the evening, we had the pleasure of being mystified by the Danish comedian and magician Rune Klan’s tricks. Rune did a very funny magic-and comedy show and filled Odeon with smile and laughter. Also, Christian Stadil was on stage taking us through his THORNICO 360 presentation of our THORNICO world.
Furthermore, the guests had the chance to win a tattoo-, coaching- or tapping session on site. And some are now marked for life.
And as an established tradition, we had THORNICO Karma goodie bags, this year with an event t-shirt and bucket designed with inspiration from our THORNICO awards. Additionally, the goodie bag held a bracelet from 4Ocean made from recycled materials. For every bracelet, one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines has been removed. Together we in THORNICO have helped remove 204 kilograms of trash from the ocean. We are now proudly wearing our 4Ocean bracelets.
This year we on top had a photo booth where all our guests could capture fun pictures and create memories with a lot of different THORNICO props together with colleagues, and it was a huge success! We captured some FUN photos, and the guests could take home their printed versions as a fun memory.
In keeping up with tradition, this year’s THORNICO Event was also captured on camera by our skilled photographers, Ole Delfs, and Jesper Yde, who made sure to perpetuate moments from our event. Stay tuned, soon we release our THORNICO Event Movie 2018!
We finished the event with dance, karma drinks and lots of confetti, to the sound of DJ Anthon’s party records.
Thank you all for a wonderful evening. We are already looking forward to seeing you all again at the THORNICO Event 2019.
