Today, on October 18, we can proudly announce that after months of planning, designing and building the new Ovodan plant is now officially open. The new plant is located in Southern China in the province of Guangdong. Ovodan’s two other plants are located close to Shanghai and Tianjin near Beijing, two economic forces in China and therefore, it was only natural to locate the new one in the area of the Guangdong province. The Guangdong plant is going to play an important part in deepening Ovodan’s distribution footprint in Southern China.
Today, Ovodan is the biggest buyer of shell eggs in China and hereby market leaders. 3-4 million eggs a day are processed on Ovodan’s two current plants in China and this number will increase substantially with the opening of this third new plant.
It’s been 15 years since the first Ovodan plant saw the light of day in China and started processing eggs.
The official opening ceremony in Guangdong, China was attended by Ambassador of The Royal Danish Embassy, China, Anders Carsten Damsgaard and Consul General at Royal Danish Consulate General, Guangdong, Anja Villefrance.
Among others who also had the privilege to attend the opening ceremony was, Chairman of the Board of THORNICO, Thor Stadil, President of our Egg Product Division, Henrik Pedersen, CEO of Ovodan, Wayne Liu, Managing Director and CEO of Stanico, Ronald Bouwens, President and CEO of THORNICO’s activities in South America, Ernesto Schonbrod and CFO of THORNICO, Marianne Schelde.
