The renovation of the entrances and facades of the Thornico Building have successfully been completed. In the design of Kühne & Co Architects, the building has been given more access to the street and the city. The biggest change can be seen on the facade on Westblaak, where the columns are narrowed considerably. The sidewalk that runs partly underneath the building is thus much lighter and more connected to the road. The view from Westblaak, near the skate park, is thus improved.
The renovation, commissioned by Thornico Building, took several months and goes beyond the exterior. The three reception halls have been given a facelift and are now more accessible and lighter. The real eye-catchers are the hand-laid wooden floors, striking lighting by Romy Kühne, the handmade reception desk by Ernst Kühne and the Buddha statues representing the Company Karma philosophy of Thornico. The renovation contributes to having the ambition of a greater positive impact on Rotterdam.
