Ta’ det – the app that is breaking with the ’use and throw away’ culture and the tendencies to extensive overspending within today’s society – is changing its name.
14 months ago, the company participated in the DR1 success Løvens Hule (also known as dragons’ Den and Shark Tank), and now they are launching the biggest update in their history. An update that includes a name change. From now on, the app is called Freemi.
The name Freemi is a composition and remodeling of the term free economy, a concept the team behind Freemi wishes to create more awareness about.
”A free economy is a place where people are passing on material goods, without any expectations in return. Money has no place in a free economy. This is the kind of community we wish to create. A place that is accessible for everybody. That’s why it’s free to participate in our free economy” Says Rasmus Thude, CEO, and Co-founder of Freemi.
The idea of a free world on a mobile platform is largely supported. The last 14 months over 70.000 Danes has joined Denmark’s new free economy and over 10.000 things have already found a new home. The users have searched for free stuff in their area more than 750.000 times!
The user growth sped up after the participation on Løvens Hule where the newly created company received investments from two of the lions, Christian Stadil and Birgit Aaby. A year has passed, but the user base continues to increase with over a hundred users a day.
Sustainability and collective responsibility are some of the core values behind the app. Way too much useful stuff is being discarded, and for that reason, wishes to make it easier and more fun for the Danes to pass on their used stuff, instead of throwing them out.
This way, we can help each other, take care of the environment and strengthen the local community – all from the comfort of your phone.
The app is available for free download in App Store and Google Play. Download now, and live life freer.
